This move highlights not only the importance of conserving this unique and charismatic species, just in India, across its larger range in the entire eastern Himalayas and southwestern China. The Red Panda is an endangered species in IUCN Red Book, due to habitat loss from deforestation and degradation, as well as poaching and illegal wildlife trade, with an availability of estimated population of less than 2,500 only and their numbers are rapidly reducing.
